Honduras

Home of the coral reef,
exporter of goods,
mountainous, sunny,

They tell me you are dangerous and I admitt it,
I have seen people kidnapped and taken for days.
They also tell me you are poor, for I have seen kids asking for money in traffic lights without clothes and shoes.
And they tell me you are polluted and dirty,
which I have seen also streets full of dust and the sky blocked with smoke.

And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and give them back the sneer and say to them:
Come and show me a country who has better food, better bananas, a better coral reef and where people get so united for a cause that everyone is against of. A country who can overthrow a president with no fear.

Strong as metal,
united as a family,
Honduras is the best place ever!

Just Because...

Just because I am fat doesn´t mean I am ugly,
it does not mean I cannot eat what ever I want,
it doesn´t mean you should see me with the wrong eyes in the restaurant.

Just because I am fat it does not mean I cannot have a boyfriend,
it does not mean I cannot have friends,
It doesn´t mean you descriminate me.

Just because I am fat it doesn´t mean I cannot dress right,
It doesn´t mean I cannot look pretty,
It doesn´t mean I am less than you.

Perfect Leader, Perfect Society

I am the leader of the entire clan of Honduras. My name is El Jefe. I was born on January 10, 1970. I have 3 girls and 3 boys. My wife is called all along my society La Jefa. She really deserves the name because she is the one who maintains the orden with moral and nice teachings. I gave her the power to rule over education and religion. La Jefa has done such a great job that everybody in our society likes her and is willing to cooperate. She created learning centers where children went and learned basic sttuf like numbers and the alphabet. In religion, she allowed the Spanish catholitism in the entire south part. People feel very comfortable with this religion and the divine creation. I am in charge of the military and political events. This is a very jard job because each and every member of the society has a different view and perspective over politics. We are a society who fights for what we want and for what we can achieve. Our main goals in our society is the have equality and justice. It is not easy to lead such a big clan. We are 28 thousand members spread all along the south part of Honduras. Our existance is of over 100 years and all my family has been like royalty. Power is hereditary and I thank God that my family has managed to control so many people with several Laws. Our laws are as follows, 1. Every one is equal with each other. 2. Children are obligated to attend to at least 5 years of a learning center. 3. Fight for justice and equality. This laws are the basic and most important rules of our entire society. Women play a nice roll, they work in the fields and sell items in the market. They raise their children to be lawyers and good men. We have been having an economical and financial crisis for the last three years, but with trading we have survived.
This is me :) :

The Strange Traveler

Today I encountered a very strange man. He was a dirty, harsh looking man which was looking for a bed and supper. At first, I had no idea who this person was. Since I am a caring person who looks for the best in everyone I was willing to take him in my house. The first thing I thought about this men was why he was kicked out of the inns especially if the accept everyone and town did not had an important festival going around, so there was space available. My plan was to interrogate him. Calmly I started asking questions and he answered in a fast way. I told him, "What is your name monsieur? What are you doing here alone and without shelter?". He looked at me like pleading for something and answered. "My name is Jean Valjean, I do not have were to sleep and I am dying of hunger, I have walked without stop about twenty leagues. I have money and I am willing to pay for a bed and supper." I started to be doubtfull of him sleeping at my house with my children inside. I did not knew this man and I felt trully sorry for him, but I prefered not to give him a shelter and protect my children. It is better to be safe from strangers but I was also procupied for him and where he was going to sleep. In answered "A pleasure to meet you, but why don´t you go to the inns?". Jean Valjean then answered shyly "I got kicked out of there." I then knew that this man would cause me trouble. In his pocket, I saw the yellow paper. This meant that he had been in jail. I could see that he was suffering, but I could not keep him home. With my greatest appology I told him "Listen Jean Valjean, I cannot give you a bed, but I can give you some supper. Please go to the little red house in that corner and they will sure give you a bed to sleep in. It is the bishops house. Please wait here and I will bring you some supper." When I came back he was sitting in the floor waiting anxiously for supper. I felt very sad for all those people who do not have food and suffer because of this. Jean Valjean ate his food ver fast. I was amazed how he ate it all. When he had completely finished he said "I thank you madame for the great supper you prepared for me, how much do I owe you? I have money and can pay for it." I answered with my greatest smile "You do not owe me nothing, I was pleased serving you supper, please come by and I will give you breakfast. Have a great night monsieur it was a pleasure." Jean Valjean turned away and left to the bishop´s house. When I saw him walking away I felt so good and thanked God for everything I got.

Letter 2 "Prayers at the Congress"

In this letter written from John Adams to Abigail Adams states the importance and the impact of prayers at the Congress. John had never heard a better preacher than Mr. Cooper. He made everyone realize the importance of religion and how connected they were with it. The Psalm made people care and gave them divine guidence. John encourages Abigail to read the Psalm and to read to her friends.

RHETORICAL DEVICES
1. “I must confess I never heard a better prayer or one, so well pronounced. Episcopalian as he is, Dr Cooper himself never prayed with such fervour, such Ardor, such Earnestness and Pathos, and in Language so elegant and sublime” (John Adams 678).
In this quote the rhetorical device of appeal to emotion is present. We can see that John is transmitting his emotions of admiration to us. Without hearing Dr. Cooper´s speech we know that it was a very good one. This is an important quote to the letter because by knowing this we understand what John is trying to say to Abigail.

2. “I must beg you to read that psalm. If there was any Faith in the sortes Virgilianæ, or sortes Homericæ, or especially the Sortes biblicæ, it would be thought providential” (John Adams 678).
By reading this quote we can see the persuasion in it. John persuades the reader, in this case Abigail to read the psalm because it impacted him greatly. This can help her make changes in her life. This quote also persuades other readers to read the psalm.

Refuting Patrick Henry

Mr. President, not everyone in this country wants independence. I respect your thoughts and ideas Mr. Patrick Henry, but I can tell you that we have very different opinions. You are just pointing out the bad side of being under the rule of the British. They are not bad people. They want to have power in our country to make it a better and more powerful place for us. Haven´t you seen the benefits we have with them? You stated in the Virginia Convention a couple of days ago "They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging." (Henry 2). People have to understand that no chains are over us. Ten years have past and we have recieved security in every of our colonies and tea has been a primordial product in our lives. We have to admit that native americans have been savages against them. Taking their people captive is not the way to solve problems. British suffer for their family members who are killed or taken captive. The only thing that we are winning is more hate from their part. They like the peaceful men, the ones who fight for what they want, and the ones to try to solve problems without aggresion. I also would like to clear something and quote you. "We must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight!" (Henry 2). In my opinion, nothing will be solved with war. I strongly agree that we should sign a treety with the British and have equal rights. Everyone can enjoy from this beautiful country. Let´s forget war and agression. The British just want the best or us and I agree with them. I am proposing everyone to sign a legal document were we will have the same rights as the British, lie in the same social level, work to have what we wish, and have liberty and freedom. This way we will all have peace and live a happy life.

My World Plan

The world would be a better place if everyone contributed equally. My plan to change the world is to convince adults to plant at least a tree in their houses or communities. Benefits of these actions will benefit all of us in categories such as social, environmental, communal, and economical. They help our environment by conserving water; it improves air quality and helps the wildlife animals. It also contributes immensely in climate. In the economical part, trees can make you have a 10 or 15% lower cost in air condition if your house has a series of trees that give shade. The government would be in charge of giving each house a small tree that only contains the roots and a branch 3 inches tall. People will have the responsibility of planting the tree in their gardens and it is their choice where to place it. This is a great opportunity for families to do an outdoor activity with all of its members. People older than 18 years old are considered adults here in Honduras and each of them will be checked by the government if they have done their job. Every month a supervisor of each community will check upon adults if trees are growing and well treated. Adults who do not follow our establishment of planting trees will receive a fine of 200 lempiras each month. People with less economic resources will have considerations with the fines. I hope that everyone agrees with this plan for a better life, but people who do not agree please try to review the benefits and think for the future. Think of your family that will live in the future and do not be selfish. The world is suffering the Green House Effect and carbon dioxide is contaminating the world. We can start doing the difference. Other countries can take our example and the whole world can help with our environment. After all, our country can go green and have beautiful large trunks and full of leaves and green spots.
