The Strange Traveler

Today I encountered a very strange man. He was a dirty, harsh looking man which was looking for a bed and supper. At first, I had no idea who this person was. Since I am a caring person who looks for the best in everyone I was willing to take him in my house. The first thing I thought about this men was why he was kicked out of the inns especially if the accept everyone and town did not had an important festival going around, so there was space available. My plan was to interrogate him. Calmly I started asking questions and he answered in a fast way. I told him, "What is your name monsieur? What are you doing here alone and without shelter?". He looked at me like pleading for something and answered. "My name is Jean Valjean, I do not have were to sleep and I am dying of hunger, I have walked without stop about twenty leagues. I have money and I am willing to pay for a bed and supper." I started to be doubtfull of him sleeping at my house with my children inside. I did not knew this man and I felt trully sorry for him, but I prefered not to give him a shelter and protect my children. It is better to be safe from strangers but I was also procupied for him and where he was going to sleep. In answered "A pleasure to meet you, but why don´t you go to the inns?". Jean Valjean then answered shyly "I got kicked out of there." I then knew that this man would cause me trouble. In his pocket, I saw the yellow paper. This meant that he had been in jail. I could see that he was suffering, but I could not keep him home. With my greatest appology I told him "Listen Jean Valjean, I cannot give you a bed, but I can give you some supper. Please go to the little red house in that corner and they will sure give you a bed to sleep in. It is the bishops house. Please wait here and I will bring you some supper." When I came back he was sitting in the floor waiting anxiously for supper. I felt very sad for all those people who do not have food and suffer because of this. Jean Valjean ate his food ver fast. I was amazed how he ate it all. When he had completely finished he said "I thank you madame for the great supper you prepared for me, how much do I owe you? I have money and can pay for it." I answered with my greatest smile "You do not owe me nothing, I was pleased serving you supper, please come by and I will give you breakfast. Have a great night monsieur it was a pleasure." Jean Valjean turned away and left to the bishop´s house. When I saw him walking away I felt so good and thanked God for everything I got.
